Caribou
Youth ski rental program
The Northern Skiers and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department have partnered to bring the youth ski rental program back to the community. This year, rentals will be available to all Caribou youth and include skis, boots, poles and a carrier for a fee of $80 which includes a $20 refund upon return of the equipment in the spring.
Forms are available at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. For additional information, call the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Department at 493-4224.
Cheerleading
Cheerleading for grades 5 and 6 starts Dec. 2 and runs through March 24, 2011. The program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
Facility closed Thanksgiving
In observance of Thanksgiving, the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 25.
Men’s 30-and-over basketball
Men’s 30 and over hoop meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-12 noon at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. This program is designed for gentlemen ages 30 and over. There is a $3 per person fee on Sundays.
Adult volleyball
The recreation department is offering a pick-up volleyball league for area adults on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9 p.m. through Jan. 27, 2011. Participants must be out of high school. There is no fee for this program.
Fall/winter program booklets
Please note that the fall/winter program booklets are now available at the recreation office. Registrations are now being accepted for all fall and winter programs. Program details are also available online at www.caribourec.org.
Zumba offered
Zumba is offered on Tuesdays from 9-10 a.m. and 6:15-7:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. Classes are $8 per class, payable to the instructor.
Walking hours
Walking hours at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center are now Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturdays from noon-4 p.m.
Game room open
The game room is open and hours are 3-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturdays.
High impact aerobics
High impact aerobics are offered on Monday and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-9 a.m. Classes are $5 each, 10 for $25 and 20 for $40, payable to the instructor.
Power of Prevention exercise classes
The Power of Prevention exercise classes are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8:30-9:30 a.m. There is no fee for this program.
Cary exercise classes
Cary exercise classes are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The fee is $1 per class, payable to the instructor.

Fort Fairfield
Open gym
The Fort Fairfield Community Center gymnasium and game room are open to the public for drop-in free play on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m., Saturday afternoon from 1:30-4 p.m. and Sunday afternoon from noon-4 p.m.
The game room is also open each day after school from 2:30-6 p.m. for drop-in game activities.
Introduction to Basketball
The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is offering an introduction to basketball program for boys and girls in kindergarten and grade one beginning on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the community center and continuing through the middle of February (the program will not be held on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1).
The intent of this program is to teach the very basic fundamentals and skills of the game of basketball to the participants in a fun-filled manner. Adult volunteers are needed to help coach the kids so if you are interested, contact the parks and recreation department at 472-3882. Registration forms are available at the community center or at school.
Pee wee and youth basketball
Pee wee basketball for boys and girls in grades 2 and 3 and youth basketball for boys and girls in grades 4-6 will be held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings for the youth players in grades 4-6. Games or practices will be held Saturday afternoons and Tuesday evenings for the pee-wee players in grades 2 and 3. Both the pee-wee and youth basketball programs will continue play through the beginning of February 2011.
Registration forms will be distributed at school or can be picked up at the community center. There is no charge to participate. Adults interested in helping to coach one of the pee-wee or youth teams this season should contact the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department at 472-3882.
Indoor walking and jogging
The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium is open to the public for walking, jogging and exercising Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-noon (except on holidays). There is no charge to participate.
G-Force Laser Tag
Laser tag will be held at the Fort Fairfield Community Center Dec. 18 from 4-8 p.m. The jousting/bouncing castle will also be on site. The cost is $3 per game or $10 for a two-hour session.
