The Island Falls Ice Fishing Derby will be held Feb. 19-20 on Mattawamkeag Lake and Pleasant Pond.
There will be eight categories of fish, including salmon, trout, bass, pickerel, white perch, chub, eel and cusk.
First-place finishers in each of the salmon, trout and bass divisions will win $100, with second place picking up $50; third place, $20, with the exception of bass which will be $25 and fourth place, a door prize.
First-place anglers in pickerel and white perch win $50; second place, $25; third place, 415 and fourth place, a door prize.
In the chub, eel and cusk categories, first place is $20 and second place, a door prize.
Rules for the derby are as follows: No person can win more than one cash prize; the weight of the fish determines the prize; each person registered may only enter one fish and all door prizes/raffle winners must be registered for the derby and all of the state ice fishing regulations apply to the derby.
A bonus of $100 value will be given for the heaviest fish overall and door prizes will be awarded at the final weigh-in on Sunday.
There will also be a raffle for two prizes, a Jiffy ice auger and jet sled. Anglers must be registered in the derby in order to enter tickets in the giveaway.
Registration and weigh-in will be at Jerry’s Foodstore in Island Falls. In order to participate in the derby and be eligible for prizes, an person must register no later than noon on Saturday, Feb. 19. Cost is $10.
Saturday, Feb. 19, weigh-in is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 20, at 3 p.m.
