Early childhood educators, come grow with us!
PRESQUE ISLE — Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) Resource Development Center (RDC) is excited to announce a wonderful training opportunity for Aroostook County residents who work with young children.
ACAP RDC is hosting an early childhood conference at Northern Maine Community College on Saturday, April 30. This is a chance for early childhood educators, parents, public school teachers, foster parents and others to attend trainings right here in Aroostook County.
The conference will feature a keynote address by Marjorie Withers, executive director of Caring Community Connections in Washington County. Her keynote, “Meeting the Challenges of the Very Young through Collaboration and Sharing,” will address the multiple challenges facing families, agencies and communities across our region. Withers will discuss how we can support young children and their families in times when pressures and concerns are greater and dollars are fewer.
Conference participants will also have the opportunity to attend a wide variety of workshops and earn six hours of training. Workshops will include: Baby Massage, Fun with Science, How to Successfully Work with Parents, Literacy for the Young Learner, Dealing with Challenging Childhood Behaviors and many more. There will also be vendors available for participants to visit with throughout the day.
The conference will take place at NMCC from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $50 for adults and $35 for students, which includes a certificate for six training hours, lunch, snacks and door prizes. Space is limited and registrations must be received no later than March 31. Individuals interested in more information should contact Tiffany Karnes or Nicole Fournier at 760-3500 or tkarnes@acap-me.org.
