After the processional of the Senior Class there was a welcome from Pastor Vaughn Martin. There were a couple of musical selections sang by everyone. Pastor Rob McDowell, pastor of the Wesleyan Church, gave the scripture reading. Pastor Andy DeRier of the Pentecostal Church said a prayer of Blessing.
Greg Jackson, pastor of the Baptist Church, addressed the crowd with some words of wisdom. Life is like a cup of coffee was one of his points. He told us not to worry about picking out the most expensive cup or the prettiest cup because the cup is not what we want. It’s the coffee. By wasting time looking for the best cup we sometimes miss the flavor.
We were told to always strive for the best and that life is too short, so don’t waste a second of it. Carve your names on people’s hearts.
After the keynote address was given, Carlos DaCruz, pastor at Pine Tree Church, gave the Benediction.
Photo competition for Kiwanis’ calendar
The Easton Kiwanis’ Club is sponsoring a photo contest for the Kiwanis calendar project this year. Entries must include the photographer’s name, address, phone number and subject of the photo written on an attached 3- by 5-inch card. Photos must be dropped off at the town office by July 6th, 2011.
Residents may be able to view the entries and vote for their favorite at the Kiwanis chicken barbecue on Friday, July 8th or at the Kiwanis booth on Easton Field Days, Saturday, July 9th before 1 p.m.
Senior citizens’ trip
The Easton Senior Happy Days Club traveled by school bus to Houlton on Thursday, May 26th. They had a delicious lunch at the Horn of Plenty Restaurant and enjoyed some shopping in Holton. The bus driver was Leslie Ferris. Thanks to the Town of Easton for making the trip possible.
Save your caps
The Easton Parent Community Organization is participating in the Coke Rewards Program. Help them out by saving the caps and codes from various Coca-Cola products.
Parents should feel free to send these into the school with their child (like they would box tops) or sign up for an account and donate points online.
Each code earns the school points which will be used to donate items for classrooms and activities. If you have any questions please feel free to call the Elementary office at 488-7701. Thank you.
