  American Flag ColorPT Byron Gould  DANFORTH- Byron L. Gould, 84, passed away June 29, 2011 at a Houlton hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Danforth, May 17, 1927 the son of Archie B. and Myrtle F. (Harris) Gould.
    He was a graduate of Danforth High School and Ricker College. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1970 and returned to Danforth to live and perform many years of service as its town manager.
    He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol, and their daughter, Ruth Ann, and her husband, Patrick Cowger, all of Danforth; two sons, Leonard Gould and his wife, Christine, of Crossville, Alabama, and Bruce Gould and his wife, Lisa, of Melbourne, FL; eight grandchildren, Patricia Will, Sarah Gould, Adam Gould, Michelle Dropp and her husband, Dan, Michael Gould, Sydney Cowger, Jordyn Cowger and Camryn Cowger; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Dropp and Jensen Dropp; four sisters, Alta Campbell of Berlin, NH, Glenna Stiles of Milan, NH, Elizabeth Boardman of Hamden, ME and Waldina Gould of Zephyrhills, Fl; one brother, Wilfred Gould and his wife, Lola, of Windsor, CT; and one special brother-in-law, Hartley Dwyer of Weston, ME; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Christina Dwyer of Weston and Barbara Bickford of Danforth.
    At Mr. Gould’s request, there will be a graveside service at the Danforth Cemetery on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to the First Settlor’s Lodge in Weston afterwards for a time of fellowship to celebrate his life.
