With all the expert technology available today-with talking robots and talking Barbie dolls-why not talking golf balls?
Imagine looking for a lost golf ball in the rough and hearing it say “hey stupid, I’m here” or Bob Gray’s ball growling “don’t drop any of that cigar ash on me”, Tony Marino’s ball yelling “don’t hit me into Nickerson Lake-I can’t swim”, Art Nickels ball muttering “that’s a logo on me, not Jerry Adam’s face”, Paul Adam’s ball complaining “can’t I ever see the fairway”, Attorney David Edgar’s ball pleading “no, no” after being 4 putted from 8 feet on the 6th hole during the club championship qualifying round.
Golf balls are very surprised to find that even females mutter a curse when they are mishit-surely ladies club champion Linda Holmes would not be guilty of such behavior-or Harriet Gray’s ball saying “I love to smell the flowers along the way but don’t hit me into your freshly planted petunias”.
There are many more golf ball quotes we would hear if they could talk — we’ll have more some other day.

It was a pleasure for Darrell McGuire and I to play a match in the Twilight League against Rick and son, Ben Goodwin, as it completed three generations of play as Bob Goodwin, Rick’s dad and I were good friends.
