During the Aug. 17 meeting of the Eastern Aroostook Regional School Unit 39 (RSU 39) board of education  members of the panel voted in favor of  increasing the school meal prices at the Limestone Community School.

As a result of this decision lunch cost for elementary level students was increased by 10 cents to $1.85; middle level by 20 cents to $2.20 and high school students by 25 cents to $2.25. A 10 cent increase across the board for school breakfast was also approved making the available morning meal now $1.10.

Other County school meal programs seeing increases for the 2011-12 school year include Caribou, up 15 cents; Houlton, up 5 cents; Fort Fairfield, up 10 cents; Mars Hill, up 10 cents and Ashland up 5 cents over last year.

Presque Isle and Fort Kent schools will have no change in the cost of their  respective school meal programs.
