Sno-Run event

A new wrinkle is being added to the Andy Santerre Sno-Run. In addition to the snowmobile event, a 3k-run/1.86 mile walk will be held to raise funds for AMHC Sexual Assault Services.

The run will be at 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 11, the same day as the Sno-Run. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Griffeth Ford in Caribou, which is also the starting point for the race.

A $15 donation is required to participate. For $30 an embroidered hat is included.

All walkers and runners will be placed in a drawing for two dinner tickers to the Sno-Run dinner at the Crow’s Nest that evening.

Contact AMHC at 498-6431 to register in advance. For more information go to AMHC.org.

Think Pink Day

The University of Maine at Presque Isle Basketball teams will host Virginia-Lynchburg in Wieden Gymnasium on Feb. 12 and activities to raise money for the American Cancer Society will be taking place at those games. The public is invited to take part in the event that will kick off with the women’s game at 1 p.m. and the men’s game immediately following. During the games, there will be items for sale including: pink t-shirts, lanyards, and pink basketballs. Those in attendance can also donate their loose change by “feeding the jug.” There will also be 50/50 and gift basket raffles. Spectators are encouraged to wear pink clothing at the event to show their support. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society via the UMPI Owls Relay for Life team.
