CARIBOU, Maine — Susan White, principal at the Caribou Middle School recently announced the names of those students who have been selected as CMS January Students of the Month, by their respective teachers.
CMS sixth-grade team teachers Mrs. Bouchard and Ms. Lajoie named Searra Herbert as Student of the month for January, stating, “Searra is a wonderful individual who gives her best in everything that she does. She daily sets a wonderful example of what a Caribou Middle School citizen should be.” Herbert is also very involved athletically throughout the year, playing soccer on both the rec team and with the Dutch Soccer Academy and this year as a sixth-grader she was a starter for the seventh grade basketball team.
The sixth grade team of Mrs. Dionne and Mr. Pelletier selected Hope Shea as their January Student of the Month. “Hope is a very conscientious student, always giving her best effort regardless of the subject area,” stated her teachers. “She is always willing to help her classmates and also her teachers when called upon and is very respectful toward her peers and teachers, and her bubbly personality and constant smile make her a wonderful addition to our team,” they added.
Shea is a very involved student, not only at CMS but outside the school as well, participating in the school band and most recently made the sixth- and seventh-grade girl’s basketball team. A busy athlete she also plays Dutch Soccer and rec soccer as well as recreation basketball.
The Caribou Middle School seventh-grade teachers, Mrs. Barnes, Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Gorneault, Mr. Gengler, Mr. Ouellette, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mr. Perreault and Mrs. Curtis named Conner Spencer as their January Student of the Month.
“Conner is an outstanding student who gives great participation in class,” said the teachers. “She is an avid reader who loves learning. A great asset to her school and community we are proud to have this hard-working and talented young lady as a student at Caribou Middle School,” they added. Spencer also excels athletically, participating in soccer and basketball at CMS.
CMS grade seven teachers Mrs. Curtis, Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Gorneault, Mrs. Rhinebolt, Mr. Perreault, Mrs. Barnes, Mr. Ouellette and Mr. Gengler have named Kerrigan Manter as their January Student of the Month. “An excellent student, Kerrigan possess very strong academic study habits and is highly motivated setting high goals for herself which she is always working to achieve,” said her teachers. “She also serves as a homeroom representative and attends weekly student organization meetings,” they added.
Very active in school activities, Manter played on the seventh-and-eighth grade girls soccer team and was the manager for the seventh-grade boys basketball team.
Eighth-grade CMS teachers, Travis Barnes, Troy Barnes, Shannon Sleeper, Jessica Dow and Ralph Fantasia named Maggie Cyr and Molly Adams as their January Students of the Month.
“Maggie has been a very active student during her years at Caribou Middle School,” stated her teachers, “she has been a member of the ski, track, cross-country and soccer teams, while also serving as manager for the grade eight boys basketball team. She has been on the honor roll and is well respected by her peers and we see her as an excellent school citizen who strives to be successful in the classroom.”
“Molly has been an excellent school citizen during her time at CMS, she is always polite and cooperative and is quick to help not just CMS staff, but her fellow students,” said the grade-eight teachers. “A consistent honor roll student, she has participated on the soccer and track teams and has served as manager for the grade-eight boys basketball team,” they added. Molly is also a member of the Maine Dance Academy.
