LIMESTONE – A senior at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics, Henry Schuth of Eastport was one of two Maine recipients of the prestigious 2011 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement. The Siemens Foundation makes these awards, which include a $2,000 scholarship, to the male and female student in each state who perform the highest on Advanced Placement (AP) math and science courses. Schuth has taken six AP exams to date and plans to study biology in college while cultivating his love for music and theater. He is currently directing a school performance of “Waiting for Godot.”

MSSM’s Executive Director, Luke Shorty, congratulated Schuth, saying, “MSSM is very proud that Henry’s hard work is being recognized by this national organization. Henry is a dedicated, thoughtful scholar with a bright future. I suspect this is only the first of many honors he will earn in his lifetime.”

Mary Carmack, a senior at John Bapst Memorial High School, was the other Maine student to receive the 2011 Siemens Award.
