    The high school baseball and softball season are underway, as teams hit the field last week for several games.
    Hodgdon 13, Fort Fairfield 6 — In Hodgdon on Monday, the Hawks powered by visiting Fort Fairfield 13-6.
    The game was tied 4-all until the Hawks drove in four runs in the bottom of the fourth and another five in the fifth to break the game open.
    Chris Hudson stroked two doubles and brought in four runs for the Hawks, while Erik Ryan connected for three singles and three RBIs. Nick Lunn singled twice to drive in two runs, while Drew Gough doubled and singled for two RBIs.

    The Hawks are 5-2.
    Southern Aroostook 8, Hodgdon 7 — The Southern Aroostook Warriors edged visiting Hodgdon, 8-7 in last Friday’s game in Dyer Brook.
    In the bottom of the seventh, Gage LaFay cracked a double to left-center to score pinch runner Jesse Boulier, who came in for Joe Frazier who walked. Will McGary pounded a three-run double in the third and Ryland King doubled.
    For Hodgdon, Tyler Sherman had two singles, while Tristan Larson singled and doubled.
    Houlton 3, Presque Isle 6 — The Shiretowners jumped to a 3-0 lead over visiting Presque Isle on Monday, but the Wildcats tied the game in the top of the fourth and took the lead, 5-3 after the sixth.
    Presque Isle remains undefeated at 7-0, while Houlton slips to 2-3.
    Hunter Hanning paced Houlton with a two-run double.
    GHCA 0, Woodland 13 — At East Grand last Saturday, the Dragons’ Ryan Lincoln fired a one-hit shutout and a near perfect game, coming within one out.
    For the Eagles, Zach Ebner singled.

    Houlton 10, Stearns 0 —Hanning shined on the mound last Friday throwing a one-hitter, while striking out 10. He helped his own cause by hitting a triple, two singles, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Dan Howe added two singles and an RBI and Isaiah Straubel singled and drove in two runs. Gage Hunt singled, walked and stole three bases.
    GHCA 0, Washburn 15 – Nick Bragg of Washburn fashioned a five-inning no-hitter, striking out eight to lead his team to victory.
    Hodgdon 6, Katahdin 4 — It was a tight game in Hodgdon last Thursday as the Hawks and Cougars were tied 4-all into the fourth inning. The Hawks were able to post a run in the bottom of the fifth and sixth to take the win.
    Ryan belted a two-run double, while Gough hit an run-scoring single.
    For Katahdin, Spencer Anderson roped a two-run single, while Bill Livezey chipped in with a run-scoring single.
    Katahdin 6, Southern Aroostook 5 — Last Wednesday in Stacyville, the Cougars came from behind using a three-run seventh to pull out the win.
    Matt Birmingham led Katahdin with three singles, while Jesse McNally double and singled and Caine Patterson doubled.

    For Southern Aroostook, Pat Goodall, Will McGary and Parker Walker each had two singles.
    Houlton 12, Caribou 7 — With the game knotted at 7-all, Houlton scored three in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh to claim the win.
    Jimmy Fitzpatrick slapped a two-run homer, triple and single, while Hunt added three singles. Kole Buzzeo threw five innings to take the win and Straubel threw the last two innings for the save.
    Southern Aroostook 20, Ashland 0 — There was no contest in last Tuesday’s game in Ashland.
    Trent Cullinan combined on a no-hitter for the Warriors, while McGary led the offensive charge with a grand slam in the third, a single for seven RBIs. Dylan Porter led the game off with a homer.
Girls recaps:
    Hodgdon 21, Fort Fairfield 25 — It was a slugfest in Hodgdon that went into extra innings, as the Lady Hawks were defeated by the visiting Tigers.
    The game was tied 9-all after the third before Fort Fairfield went ahead. But, the Hawks battled back to tie the game once again in the sixth, 18-all. Still knotted after seven innings, the Tigers finally overtook Hodgdon in the top of the eighth driving in four runs and holding the Lady Hawks scoreless.
    Alicia Rockwell collected four singles, while Maya Gardiner and Rachel Harmon each doubled and singled twice.

    Limestone 6, East Grand 4 — The Lady Vikings watched the game get away in the top of the eighth when Limestone’s Stephanie Leighton drove in the go-ahead run.
    Jayne Cousins singled twice, while Elisha Farley doubled and drove in two runs.
    Presque Isle 21, Houlton 6 — In Houlton on Monday, the Lady Wildcats overpowered Houlton, 21-6. Makala Folsom and Megan Hannigan each had two singles.
    Southern Aroostook 18, Hodgdon 14 — Sable Altvater erased a three-run deficit, 9-6 after four-and-a-half innings, with a grand slam in the fifth inning. She added an RBI-single, while Olivia Raymond doubled and hit three singles. Katie Goodall rapped three singles, as well.
    For Hodgdon, Rockwell singled twice and reached base on an error in the seventh.
    Houlton 5, Stearns 4 — It came down to one play in last Friday’s game for Houlton. In the top of the seventh, Lainey Jameson fielded the ball and fired it to her cutoff, shortstop Autumn Fox, who relayed the ball to catcher Hanningan, as the Lady Shires cut down the tying run at the plate.
    Fox had three singles, while Tanika Toby collected a pair of singles.
    East Grand 7, CAHS 5 — The Lady Vikings overtook visiting Central Aroostook behind Allie McEwen’s two singles and RBI. Farley singled and drove in a run, while Kaitlyn Beaudoin picked up the win.
    Katahdin 12, Hodgdon 5 — It was a tight game last Thursday in Hodgdon, as the visiting Lady Cougars led 2-1 before opening the game up in the top of the fifth with seven runs. Makayla Patterson led Katahdin with a double and two singles, while Ashley Randall, winning pitcher, helped her own cause with a pair of singles.
    For Hodgdon, Danika Welton doubled and singled twice, while Harmon collected two singles.
    Southern Aroostook 12, Katahdin 10 — Kaitlyn Sommers paced the Lady Warriors over Katahdin with a home run and double. Jess Tucker and Mataya Hartin each doubled twice. Goodall and Raymond each singled and doubled.
    For Katahdin, Michelle Birmingham had a pair of singles, while Patterson doubled.
    Houlton 0, Caribou 12 — Caribou blanked Houlton behind Emily Staples one-hitter. Houlton’s Ashley Drew reached Staples in the fourth with a single.

    Southern Aroostook 12, Ashland 13 — The Hornets stung Southern Aroostook in the bottom of the seventh when Rachel Gillis doubled to cap off a seven-run rally.
    Sommers keyed SACS with two doubles and three RBIs, while Raymond and Tucker each singled twice.
    East Grand 9, Hodgdon 6 — The Vikings jumped to an 8-5 lead after the third en route to the win.
    Beaudoin struck out 12 and offensively, she pounded out two singles. McEwen singled twice and doubled.
    For Hodgdon, Rockwell had a pair of base hits, while Gardiner doubled.
