SHAW, Mary M. “Dolly” (Boulier), 99, FORT FAIRFIELD, at Caribou, May 4, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, Fort Fairfield. Arrangements are by Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

    FORT FAIRFIELD – Mary M. “Dolly” (Boulier) Shaw, 99, wife of the late Joseph C. Shaw, passed away Friday morning, May 4, 2012, in Caribou, with her family by her side. She was born January 3, 1913, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of William and Mary (Levesque) Boulier.

 

    Mary, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, was a life member of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. She worked tirelessly her entire life, working on the farm, hand-cutting seed, picking potatoes and cooking for farm hands. She also worked several years at the former A & P Processing Plant, Fort Fairfield.

    Mary enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting and her flower garden. She was a fabulous cook and baked for family, friends, her doctors and mail carriers until she was 94 years old.

    She will be greatly missed for her loving and giving ways. Her strong faith and indomitable spirit saw her through many difficult times and she touched the hearts of many. Mary was blessed with many good friends, including Sheri Johnston, Pauline Jaundreau and Cora Stewart. Their unfailing love and attention enabled her to remain in her home until recently.

    Joseph predeceased her in 1973, at which time she moved to Fields Lane, residing there for thirty-seven years. She was the proud recipient of the Fort Fairfield Walking Stick in 2008 as Fort Fairfield’s oldest resident for which she was greatly honored.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her son, Richard C. Shaw; daughters, Judith Foster and Christine Merrithew; daughter-in-law, Ann Shaw; and son-in-law, Kipp Foster. Also, five brothers, Eldon “Cook”, Roy, Cecil, William “Bud” and Loomis Boulier; four sisters, Anna MacDonald, Nora Sullivan, Cora Kaspers and Jeanette Parrott.

    Mary is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert S. and Jill Shaw of Caribou; four daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Floyd Adams of Limestone, Mary and Alfred Giberson of Presque Isle, Joyce and George Milbury, and Alice McCarthy, all of Bristol, CT; 22  grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Sandra Thornton of Fort Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call Wednesday, May 9, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. Interment will take place after the Mass at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the interment service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Shaw to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the charity or organization of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
