PRESQUE ISLE — DOC’s Place in Presque Isle will be donating five cents per gallon of fuel purchased to Pink Aroostook on Friday, May 18; Pink Aroostook is a Cary Medical Center program that seeks to educate, support and advocate breast health issues in northern Maine. The campaign to help raise money for Pink Aroostook ties in with DOC’s open house, being held that same day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. behind the building.
“When we were planning our open house and customer appreciation event, we wanted to include a five cents per gallon donation for a local charity. Since DOC supports breast cancer awareness and education, selecting Pink Aroostook was a perfect fit,” explained Randy Richards, division manager at DOC’s Heating Center in Presque Isle. Richards adds that Pink Aroostook will have a table set up in the DOC tent with literature and information on the various programs and services the charity provides.
“We were thrilled when DOC contacted us regarding this charity tie-in. Our grant funding just ran out and we are operating at a ‘bare bones’ level until a major fundraiser is accomplished,” said Bethany Zell, Pink Aroostook project coordinator. “I am so appreciative that DOC recognizes the importance of our work here in Aroostook County.”
DOC’s open house will feature a large tent set up in the back of the building filled with heating and cooling appliances including pellet and propane options.
