Summaries of the first games played in the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s pee wee soccer league Aug. 27 and 29 are as follows:
Premier League (Grades 3 and 4)
In a game played indoors Aug. 27, the Revolution team did well marking up and playing defensive at such a high speed. Lexi Heidorn and Carter Belanger played well on offense, as did Liam Martin and Abby McNeal on defense.
Riley Bouchard, Brevin Barnes, Livia Bouchard, Hannah Tarbox and Sam Marquis all had goals for team Galaxy. Also assisting goals were R. Bouchard, Barnes, Edie Shea and Logan Cheplic. Excellent goalkeeper play was turned in by Ari Plante.
The Red Bulls and Timbers also played indoors. The Red Bulls played well on the fast indoor field scoring, goals off the feet of Ethan Holdsworth, Sawyer Deprey and Cailyn Kouhoupt. Assisting the goals were Kaitlyn Nadeau, Avery Knowles, Kaden DeMerchant, Jordan Duplissie, Jack Doody, Tyler Seaman, Deprey and Kouhoupt.
The Timbers had a good showing from Ryan Austin and Mia Theriault. Colin Poitras scored the team’s first goal of the season unassisted. Matt Smith and Malachai Willey played with great hustle the entire game to help the team.
The Revolution had a good game with the Timbers last Wednesday with some great offense produced by Caleb Espling, Carter Belanger and Lexi Heidorn, who all scored goals. Defensively, Josh Fortin, Liam Martin and Hailie Jalbert all made some great plays stopping the Timber offense on many occasions.
The Timbers had some offensive runs in this contest led by Cody Martin, Ryan Austin and Malachai Willey.
The Red Bulls played the Galaxy in a matchup last Wednesday. The Red Bulls got off to a good start with Ethan Holdsworth, Hunter Stubbs and Sawyer Deprey scoring goals for the team.
Tough defense was played by Riley Bouchard and Brevin Barnes for Team Galaxy. Logan Cheplic scored a goal for Galaxy late in the game to put them on the board.
World League (Grades 5 and 6)
Everyone played well in the Aug. 27 match between Barcelona and Chelsea. Austin Findlen had many offensive opportunities for Barcelona. Zach Gerakaris, Bryce Bonville and Benoit Levesque did a great job in goal throughout the course of the game. Sydney Thompson and Riley Cavagnaro played very well defensively. Goals for Barcelona were scored by Colby Bonville.
Chelsea team members who found the back of the net were Jacob Soucy, Kaylyn Krul, Kassie Krul, Alya Theriault and Sebastian Marquis.
Manchester United put the ball in the back of the net many times in another contest played Aug. 27. Goals were netted by Hayden Hunter, Parker Deprey, Aaron Johnson and Theo Strid.
Real Madrid’s Dagan Savage scored unassisted in the first half of action. Brennan Poitras, Alex Bouchard and Dagan Savage had goals in the second half. Bouchard also added an assist in a well-played game. It was a good team effort with solid goaltending by Poitras, Owen Martin and Abby Caron.
Manchester United and Barcelona played a great game last Wednesday, with Parker Deprey of Manchester United scoring the only goal of the game. Hayden Hunter and Paige Espling controlled the midfield for the Manchester team. Aaron Johnson and Tyler Shade played with lots of hustle from one end of the field to the other.
Barcelona’s Austin Findlen, Zack Gerakaris and Colby Bonville had many scoring oppurtunities during the game. Everyone on the team played hard-nosed defense to keep the score low.
Also last Wednesday, Kaylyn Krul and Kyle Boucher scored for team Chelsea against Real Madrid. Kassie Krul assisted both goals with some great offensive maneuvers controlling the pace of the game. Alya Theriault, Brandon Belanger and Sebastian Marquis all showed some great hustle on the field to help their team.
Brennan Poitras found the net from a Dagan Savage assist in the second half of play for Real Madrid. The Real Madrid team showed great efforts against an excellent Chelsea team. Excellent offensive pressure was supplied by Alex Bouchard, Savage and Cullin Caverhill resulting in many good scoring opportunities which just missed the goal.
