POW/MIA Ceremony this Friday

CARIBOU — Officials with the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Caribou will be hosting a special ceremony on Friday, Sept. 21 to honor those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action; POW/MIA Day is always held on the third Friday of September.

Kris Doody, CEO of the Cary Medical Center will be the keynote speaker for the event, and other guest speakers include Chairperson of the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery Corporation Harry Hafford as well as representatives from congressional offices.

During the remembrance ceremony, music and the laying of a memorial wreath will serve to honor those who never came home and a 21-Gun Salute will be executed by members of the American Legion Post No. 147 of Madawaska.

The program begins at 1 p.m. at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery.
