Displays for healthy living tricks and tips will also be set up in the corridors of the LCS for the community to view. All of these activities and the activities offered by Healthy Aroostook are free and open to the public.

To close out Saturday’s events, the Winter Tip-Off benefit co-ed basketball tournament will be put on by the Limestone Recreation Department and the Maine School of Science and Mathematics from 1-8 p.m. This will be a five-on-five basketball tournament and teams are required to register their rosters by Nov. 30. All rosters must contain less than seven players and there must be a female player on each team. The entry fee per team is $30 and all proceeds will benefit the Caribou Soup Kitchen’s ceiling project.

The first four teams to register will receive free tournament T-shirts. The first round of the tournament, from 1-4 p.m. will take place in Veterans’ Gymnasium with the rest of the tournament after 4 p.m. taking place in both the Veterans’ Gymnasium and the Limestone Community School Gymnasium. The SnowHawks, a snowmobile club based in Limestone, will be selling refreshments all afternoon and evening.

Door prizes will be given out throughout the basketball tournament and tickets can be earned by making donations to the soup kitchen and will also be given to participants at all events. The more events an individual participates in, the more tickets they will be able to put in the ongoing, day-long raffle.

“We are excited and happy to partner with the Maine School of Science and Mathematics for the Winter Tip-off tournament. Their plan was to benefit the Caribou Soup Kitchen’s ceiling project and we’re more than willing to lend a helping hand in their efforts to raise the money. The community is rallying around the event and businesses are donating a variety of items to be raffled off all day long during the recreation department’s Weekend of Wellness. It will be a fun-filled weekend for the whole family to enjoy,” stated Sara Martin, Limestone’s director of parks and recreation.

The Weekend of Wellness event will conclude with Swedish massages being offered by a licensed massage therapist from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at MSSM. The cost for the massages will be $1 per minute and pre-registration with the Limestone Recreation Department is required. One-on-one personal training consultations will be available from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the recreation center. There is no cost associated with the consultation. Both of these activities require pre-registration with the recreation department. A line dancing activity will also take place at 11 a.m. in Veterans’ Gymnasium and there is no cost to participate.
