CARIBOU — The Eastern Aroostook RSU will host an important registration night for all Caribou and Limestone parents of students entering pre-K. The pre-K enrollment is on a first come, first served basis for the 2013-14 school year. The Registration Night is also for parents of kindergarten students not presently enrolled in school.
The parent meetings will be held Wednesday, April 3, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Hilltop School for Caribou residents, and Wednesday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Limestone Community School for Limestone residents.
This meeting is for parents only. Children will not be screened at this time. There will be a brief presentation by school staff regarding the child’s education. There will be two opportunities to register the student.
The registration packet may be completed the evening of the parent meeting with the understanding that all of the following documents are available:
• Birth certificate of child to be registered (hospital certificates are not acceptable) as mandated by state law.
• Copy of immunizations (obtained from child’s medical provider’s office) as mandated by state law.
Immunizations required by the start of school year 2013-14 are 5 DPT, 4 OPV/IPV, 2 MMR, Varicella or documentation of chickenpox disease from medical provider. (Four years or older.)
• A copy of guardianship/custody papers if it is warranted.
If unable to complete the registration packet the night of the meeting, an appointment may be scheduled for a later date. Parents should bring the completed packet and all other documents needed to the nurses’ office.
Maine state law mandates that kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before October 15, 2013. The pre-school program requires students be 4 years of age on or before October 15, 2013.
