Verizon Wireless’s 4G LTE network has launched, offering customers with compatible devices in Presque Isle and 12 surrounding communities the ability to experience the speed and capabilities offered by the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.
The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network has further expanded to the following Aroostook communities: Benedicta, Caribou, Hodgdon, Houlton, Island Falls, Mapleton, Mars Hill, Masardis, Portage Lake, Presque Isle, Smyrna and Stockholm.
“Two years after its launch, the Verizon 4G LTE network is available to more than 273 million people across the U.S. — close to 89 percent of the U.S. population,” noted Michael Murphy, a Verizon spokesperson.
Murphy said Verizon is recognized as one of the top wireless services in the country.
“Verizon Wireless also ranked highest among all other national wireless providers in New England, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, according to the ‘J.D. Power and Associates 2013 Wireless Network Quality Performance Study (SM), Volume 1,’ issued in March,” said Murphy, adding, “This is the 17th consecutive reporting period that Verizon Wireless ranks highest in the Northeast region.”
Verizon has invested millions in wireless upgrades in just the past year alone.
“In 2012, Verizon Wireless completed $256 million in wireless network enhancements across New England, increasing the company’s regional network investment to more than $3.3 billion since its inception in 2000. By mid-2013, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available in the vast majority of markets where the company currently offers 3G service,” said Murphy.
By the end of 2013, the 4G LTE network will cover the 3G footprint, Murphy said.
“4G LTE is changing the way customers interact with the world via next generation apps, devices and solutions,” commented Dave MacBeth, executive director of network for Verizon Wireless. “By investing in wireless broadband, we’re investing in local communities and economies where our customers live, work and play.”
