HOULTON – Joseph I. Violette, 88, of Littleton & Drews Lake, passed away peacefully June 27, 2013, with his wife Margaret at his side at a local healthcare facility. He was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Patten, the son of Lawrence and Minne (Shorette) Violette.
Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy and Germany during the D-day invasion. He married Margaret Melville in 1948. He owned and operated Joe Violette & Son Construction Company for many years, working right up to the age of 80.
Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret of Houlton; two sons, Glenn Violette and his wife, Patricia, of Littleton, and Peter Violette and his wife, Elizabeth of VA; daughter-in-law, Norma Violette of Monticello; seven grand-children, several great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents; his son, David; brother Edward; and his granddaughter, Michelle.
Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Sunday until the time of the service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Steve Straubel officiating. Interment was in the Littleton Cemetery.
