BAR HARBOR, Maine — Several local runners made the trip to Bar Harbor Sept. 21 to take part in either the MDI YMCA Half Marathon or 5K.
PJ Gorneault of Caribou captured the victory in the half marathon with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes and 51 seconds. Placing third out of the 331 competitors was Jeff Ashby of Presque Isle, whose time was 1:21:41.
Jeff Dubis of Fort Kent placed 19th in 1:32:38 and Jeff Irving of Caribou was 24th in 1:34:42.
Kimberley Wright of Mapleton took 42nd overall and 10th among women with a 1:38:47 clocking.
Carl Soderberg of Caribou was 51st in 1:41:22, Jason Disy of Hillsboro, N.H., formerly of Caribou, 59th in 1:43:03 and Brent Jepson of Caribou 113th in 1:52:14.
Catherine Packard of Mapleton had a time of 2:10:42.
In the 5K, Rene Gorneault of Caribou was 11th overall and placed third among women in 22:25.
Nick Umphrey of Ellsworth, formerly of Caribou, was 28th in 25:39. Erin Disy of Hillsboro, N.H. was 90th in 32:23.
