Island Falls Recreation Department holds raffle for playground equipment

    ISLAND FALLS, Maine — The Island Falls Recreation Department is planning a number of activities over the next few weeks.
The Rec and Playground committee are holding a raffle for a 60-inch flat screen television. Tickets cost $2 each or seven tickets for $5 and 15 tickets for $10.

“Katahdin Trust, D & D Paving and Pat Hunt have helped sponsor this with us and we’re waiting on a few more whom will help us pay for the purchase of the TV and all proceeds will go towards future local playground equipment at Island Falls Playground,” said Ruth Frazier, recreation director. “The cost of the playground equipment we’re looking at purchasing when we have our goal is between $15,000 to $25,00 depending on what we go with. Your support is greatly appreciated.”
The drawing will be Dec. 15
On Dec. 8, at Island Falls municipal building, a potluck dinner benefit at 1 p.m. for Sara and Troy McDonald and their two young children who lost all their belongings to a house fire on Cold Brook Road a few weeks ago.
A silent auction will also be available.
“This event is a great time to stop by to check out the items for Christmas gifts and help the family out,” Frazier said.

The Island Falls peewee girls team is putting on a Christmas Ball dance to raise money for their new uniforms. The Christmas Ball will be Saturday Dec. 7 with the dance for those in grades 5-8 held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and for those in grades 9-12 will be from 8:30-11 a.m.
The DJ for this dance will be Desirae DuBois. Island Falls peewee teams Elks and Bulldogs, as well as the recreation department will sponsor this. The cost is $4 per person at the municipal building. For more information contact Frazier at 463-2263.
