The Caribou Vikings bounced back from opening losses to defeat Hermon Saturday in varsity tennis action.
The Caribou girls registered a 5-0 win on the road. Erin Patton defeated Kaitlyn Reynolds in No. 1 singles, 8-2, while Clara Collins topped Rebeka Bullard, 8-6, in the second singles match. Makayla Bouchard beat Ashleigh Beaulieu, 8-3, to close out the singles sweep.
In doubles, Bria Judd and Conner Spencer recorded an 8-1 win over Erin Iverson and Cassandra Cliff, while Brittany Dickinson and Taylor Fournier-Belanger won by the same score over Shaeleigh Kirkbride and Shauna Hatch in the other doubles match.
The Viking boys came through with a 4-1 triumph on the Hawks’ home court. Ethan Plourde prevailed in first singles, trouncing Corbin Tate, 8-1. In No. 2 singles, Michael Marquis eased past Alex Marsh, 8-2, while Brendan Cyr won his match by default.
Caribou’s No. 2 doubles team of Dustin and Dylan Coty survived a tough match against Jonathan Bergeron and Bryce Taylor, winning 8-6 for the team’s other victory.
Austin Scott and Austin Cheplic, the Vikings’ first doubles team, fell to Hermon’s Jonathan Sirois and Mat Allen, 8-6.
On April 19, Caribou’s girls and boys both lost at John Bapst in Bangor by scores of 3-2.
Both wins for the Viking girls came in doubles as Judd and Spencer prevailed by an 8-2 match score, while Fournier-Belanger and Dickinson won 12-10 in a tie-breaker to take their match, 9-8.
For the Caribou boys, Marquis and Cyr picked up victories in singles play.
Caribou hosted Houlton Tuesday and will entertain Fort Kent Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
