Katahdin lists top graduating students

Katahdin High School has announced Matthew Cunha as valedictorian of the class of 2014. Cunha is the son of David and Debbie Cunha of Mount Chase. He plans to attend Lasell in Newton, Mass. and major in sports communication.

    Cunha is a member of the National Honor Society, prom committee, student council, and Performing Arts Club of Katahdin. He has also participated in varsity basketball and soccer and volunteered for community service projects.
Hannah Buhler is salutatorian. She is the daughter of Bryan and Julie Buhler of Patten. Buhler plans to attend Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. and major in professional writing. She is a member of National Honor Society, student council, Performing Arts Club of Katahdin (PACK) and prom committee.  Buhler has taken leadership roles in student council and PACK.

    The school also recognized the following as honor students of the class of 2014. Students who achieve a 90 or higher for all four years of high school are honored in this manner. They are listed in alphabetical order.
Delaney Fitzpatrick is the daughter of Joel and Jona Fitzpatrick of Patten. She will attend University of Maine and major in journalism. She is the president of the National Honor Society and student council; is a member Performing Arts Club of Katahdin; prom committee; and has participated in varsity basketball.
Kami Guiggey is the daughter of Chris and Kathy Guiggey of Stacyville. She plans to attend Eastern Maine Community College to start her degree for dental hygienist. Guiggey is a member of National Honor Society and the editor of the yearbook her junior and senior years. She has participated in Performing Arts Club of Katahdin, student council, prom committee, volunteered for Vacation Bible School, Special Olympics, and also community service projects.
Elizabeth Knowles is the daughter of Phil and Sue Knowles of Sherman. She plans to attend University of Maine at Fort Kent and major in the nursing program. Knowles played varsity softball, basketball and volleyball and was also a member of National Honor Society. She was manager of the boys basketball and soccer teams, and worked on prom committee. Knowles is a member of the Catholic Youth Ministry and volunteered for Vacation Bible School and community activities.
Morgan Livezey is the daughter of William and Gail Livezey of Sherman. She plans to attend Liberty University and major in liberal studies. Morgan participated in basketball, softball and soccer. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Performing Arts Club of Katahdin, student council, prom committee and was the school yearbook photographer. She volunteered also at Living Waters Camp.
Maryssa McDonald is the daughter of Mark and Kim McDonald of Sherman. She plans to attend Husson University and major in the occupational therapy program. She participated in varsity softball. McDonald was a member of the Performing Arts Club of Katahdin, Prom Committee, and the National Honor Society. She volunteered for Vacation Bible School and community activities.
Cathleen Noyes is the daughter of Christine Heath and Mark Noyes of Sherman.  She plans to work after high school. Noyes participated in the Art Club and the Performing Arts Club of Katahdin.
MacKenzie Roy is the daughter of Albert and Carolyn Roy of Mount Chase. She plans to attend Husson University and major in nursing.
Roy participated in basketball, and managed the varsity softball team. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Performing Arts Club of Katahdin.
Roy has been an active participant in the Upward Bound program.
