Saying thanks to a new friend

On May 24, Military Street Baptist Church, The Church on the Hill, along with Celebrate Recovery hosted a benefit concert for Resting Arms Ministries in Houlton. The line-up included the adult and children’s choirs under the direction of Sharon Smith from the Houlton Wesleyan Church, Haven and Sierra Rhoda, Adam Anderson and Roger McGary, and Tammy Goetsch from The Church on the Hill.
“All of these individuals gave stellar performances,” said David Tuttle, president of Resting Arms Ministries. “It would have been easy to believe that Kelly O’Mara and her crew, Shawn Berry, Shane Kavin, and Amber Philbrook had been upstaged, but nothing could have been further from the truth. Kelly and crew wowed the crowd and performed with passion and an obvious love for the Lord.
The Resting Arms Ministry board members were pleased with the full house, particularly in light of the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend. The timing did not stop people from attending and gushing about the success of the evening.
“Kelly was amazing. I couldn’t stop myself from jumping up and praising God with her,” said Tuttle. “I am excited about the many people who share in our enthusiasm and desire to develop a Christ-centered residential treatment facility for people wrestling with addictions and trauma.”
People in Aroostook County are becoming aware of Kelly’s new ministry as she has been performing at several churches in the area.  God has gifted Kelly with an amazing singing voice, but also with the ability to connect with her audience and create an atmosphere of comfort and worship.  “Opportunities for great worship in “The County” need to grow and Kelly should be the top of everyone’s must call list,” Tuttle added.
Future fundraising events will transpire for Resting Arms Ministry as they continue to pursue the development of a facility in southern Aroostook County.  Jeremiah’s Corner of Patten is planning a fund raising concert with the proceeds going to Resting Arms Ministries in August.  Currently they are in the planning stages, but they have secured the date of August 7, 2014 in Patten.
