The Caribou Vikings had three matches last week, with a fourth that was scheduled Saturday postponed until this weekend, as they kicked off their golf season.
The Vikings opened at Presque Isle Aug. 29 against Houlton and the Wildcats. Caribou’s score of 185 was 20 more than Houlton and 28 less than PI.
Dayne and Donovan Savage both scored 44s, while Katie Pelletier had a 47 and Ricky Sheldon a 50 to lead the Vikings.
On Friday at Caribou, Presque Isle and John Bapst joined the Vikes for a three-team match. Caribou won with 170 strokes and John Bapst followed with 188, with PI scoring a 214.
Dayne Savage was the medalist with a 37, followed by Tyler Dombroski with 42. Donovan Savage had a 44, Jordan Bevins a 47 and Pelletier a 49.
The latest match took place Monday, again in Caribou, and the opponents again were Houlton and the Wildcats. The Savages shared medalist honors with Hunter Flynn of Presque Isle and Drew Marino of Houlton. All posted scores of 41.
Houlton was one shot better than Caribou in the team results, 169-170. PI came in with a 227.
Caribou competes in a dual match against Houlton this afternoon and is now preparing for Saturday’s Presque Isle Invitational, which was originally set for Sept. 6 but postponed due to weather The match starts at noon.
The Fort Fairfield Tigers also had a busy week with three matches. FF fell to Hodgdon at Houlton Community Golf Club last Wednesday, 5-4, but bounced back with wins over Central Aroostook Thursday, 7-2, and Southern Aroostook Monday, 10-1.
Robbie Watson was the medalist in all three matches, scoring a 38 against Hodgdon, a 37 against the Panthers and a 39 against SA.
