Weekend fire destroys garage
WASHBURN, Maine — A fire on the Washburn Road Saturday night destroyed a garage and its contents.
“At about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, Washburn Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a garage on fire at 83 Washburn Rd. (Route 164). Upon arrival, crews found the structure fully involved and began efforts to save the nearby house,” said Troy Heald, spokesperson for the Washburn Fire Department.
Heald said the fire was extinguished and the house was spared but the garage and the contents inside it were a total loss.
“The cause of the fire is undetermined but is not considered suspicious,” said Heald.
The home is owned by David Guerrette, of Washburn; Mark and Heather Hester are the current residents, according to the Washburn Town Office.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. Mutual aid was provided by the Presque Isle Fire Department. Crown Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
