Washburn Elementary School students recently participated in the 2015 National Children’s Dental Health Month Poster Contest.
This year’s poster theme was “Defeat Monster Mouth.” The posters had to show the importance of oral health. There were many winners at the school level, judged by Christine McPherson, the Washburn Elementary oral health and dental coordinator. The winning posters will be sent on to be judged against other students in The County. First-place winners included: Chase Hobbs, Shawn Doak, Gabriel Tilley, Ainsley Caron, Emmerson Brown, Damien Dumond, Chelsea Hobbs, Emily Jackson and Emily Butler.
Beaver bangles
The Washburn School Destination Imagination teams are selling Washburn Beaver bangles. These beautiful bangles feature a pewter beaver charm and a Washburn blue bead charm. They are only $20 each. If you would like to show your Beaver pride and support the Washburn DI teams by purchasing a bangle, please contact a DI member or call Tracy Reed at 455-4501 or 227-4671. Class of 2017 Stew Supper
The Washburn Class of 2017 will be hosting a Stew Supper on Friday, March 20, at the Washburn Elementary School from 4:30-6:30 p.m. There will be a choice of stews, soups and chili, along with a roll and dessert. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12, $5 for senior citizens or $15 for a family.
Club serving meals
While out on your weekend adventure plan one of your stops at the Trail Runners’ clubhouse to warm up and enjoy breakfast or lunch! Saturdays they are open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sundays from 6 a.m. to noon. The clubhouse is located just north of Washburn at the ITS 105/83 junction, and by vehicle at the end of the Station Road.
Library news
Washburn Memorial Library hours are: Monday, 1-7 p.m.; and Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
