MCCRUM, Delbert Keith, Sr., 92, MARS HILL, March 8, 2015. Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are in the care of Faye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Presque Isle.
MARS HILL – Delbert Keith McCrum Sr., 92, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at a Mars Hill nursing facility with his family by his side. He was born in Mars Hill on October 28, 1922, the son of the late Don and Jennette (Banks) McCrum.
Mr. McCrum was a local area potato farmer all of his life. He was a very active man and enjoyed living life to the fullest. He was involved with many organizations, serving as State President of Gideons International, a member and Deacon of the Free Baptist Church in Bridgewater, and Chairman of the Mars Hill Town Council.
Upon retirement, he and his wife traveled to all U.S. states except Hawaii and throughout Canada and parts of Mexico. He was recognized and respected as a leader and mentor to his family, church members, and the community. His legacy will live on through his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 71 years, Wilda (Chase) McCrum of Mars Hill, are three daughters, Deborah Taylor and husband, Stephen, of Bridgewater, Ruth Parks and husband, Phil, of Blaine, and Jennette Hitchcock and husband, Randy, of Mapleton; one son, Rodney McCrum and wife, Wendy, of Westfield; a daughter-in-law, Vicki McCrum of Westfield; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Delbert “Keith” McCrum Jr. Also, one sister and two brothers.
Friends may call Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at Faye Funeral Home, 5 Erskine St., Presque Isle, until the time of services at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will take place in the spring at Pierce Cemetery, Mars Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. McCrum’s honor to Gideons International c/o Joe Lockhart 209 Ladner Road Easton 04740 or the charity of one’s choice.
