    CARMICHAEL, Garol B., 79, PRESQUE ISLE, April 8, 2015. Interment will be later this spring at Johnson Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

    PRESQUE ISLE – Garol B. Carmichael, 79, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2015, at the Aroostook Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1936, in Presque Isle, the son of Malcolm and Hazel (Dyer) Carmichael.
    Garol arrived at “The Farm” in April 1958 where he grew foundation and certified seed potatoes. He was awarded the Central Aroostook Soil & Water Conservation Farmer of the Year Award in 1984. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Presque Isle for many years.
    He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean (Wilson) Carmichael of Presque Isle; his children and their spouses: Robin Carter and Jim of Presque Isle, Terry Kilcollins and Wayne of Presque Isle, Stephanie Carmichael of Presque Isle, Kim Carmichael of Colorado Springs, CO, Matthew Carmichael of Presque Isle and his fiancée, Sara Caines, of Florenceville-Bristol, NB; his grandchildren: Seth Cronkite, Kristen Kilcollins, Jordan Carmichael, Phillip Burns, Eric Burns and Lane Carmichael; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Maxine Patten.
    He was predeceased by an infant son, Christopher Todd; brothers, Keith, Ronald and Duane; and a sister, Beverly Harding.
    A very special thank you to Jeremiah Donovan for his dedication and care over the past several months. The family would also like to thank Christina and Tiffany and staff at Leisure Village for their support and care.
    Friends called 1 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where funeral services were held at 2 p.m., with Rev. Christopher Dare officiating. Interment will be later this spring at Johnson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the G.I.F.T. food pantry, Martha & Mary’s Soup Kitchen or a charity of one’s choice.
