WOODLAND, Maine — Municipal elections in Woodland have come to a close and the new school and selectboard members were announced at the town’s annual meeting on March 15, 2016.

Elected moderator Harold Tardy read the election results aloud to all those attending the meeting in the school’s gymnasium.

William Barnum was voted to take Peggy Espling’s place as Woodland selectperson and both Travis Prashaw and Denise Green were elected as new Woodland School Board members with 58 and 51 respective write-in votes.

Barnum received 85 votes while Tony Patterson received 47. Write-ins for selectperson include four for Will Barnum, and one write-in for William Burnam, William Barnan, Williams Barnum, and Richard Taggett.

Other school board write-ins included Susie Schloeman, William Barnum, Ted St. Pierre, Mary Powers, Tony Patterson and Peggy Espling. Since nobody officially ran for Woodland School Board this year, every nominee was written in.

“Somebody please run next time,” said Tardy, eliciting some laughs from the crowd “so we don’t have so many write-ins.”
