Red Cross classes offered
The Presque Isle Recreation Department is offering the following American Red Cross classes at the Gentile Hall pool on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus.
A lifeguard recertification for those who have certification expiring soon will be held Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Registration must be completed by Friday, April 1. The fee for the course is $80 for Presque Isle residents and $130 for non-residents.
A full lifeguard classes is being offered April 19, 20, 21 and 22 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Registration deadline is April 15 and the course fee is $175 for PI residents and $225 for non-residents. Participants must be 15 years of age by April 22 and must be able to complete the prerequisites. Certificates achieved are Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid and AED.
Basic Water Safety will be held Sunday, May 15 from 8 a.m.-noon. The deadline to register is May 13. This course is primarily for daycare providers who have a pool. The fee is $25 for PI residents and $75 for non-residents.
A Water Safety Instructors course is set for June 28, 29 and 30 and July 1 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Registration deadline is June 24 and the fee is $200 for PI residents and $250 for non-residents. Participants must be 16 years of age by July 1 to be eligible.
