Troop F Report

The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 155 calls for service from Sunday, August 14 to Saturday, August 20, 2016. The following incidents were among those addressed:
Thursday, August 18
– Cpl Hafford was patrolling Rt. 11 in Wallagrass and stopped a 29-year-old female for criminal speed, 69 mph in a 35 mph zone. She was summonsed for the offense of criminal speeding.
– Tr. Pescitelli went to a residence in Fort Fairfield to question a suspect in a theft case. While knocking on the door to the residence Tr. Pescitelli observed through the window of the door a young male in possession of what looked like drug paraphernalia. After investigation the young male told Tr. Pescitelli that he was snorting oxycodone that wasn’t prescribed to him. The young male was summonsed for use of drug paraphernalia.
– Sgt. Clark issued a criminal summons for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer to a 30-year-old woman from Mars Hill. Sgt. Clark received a complaint of theft from the local IGA grocery store. The shift manager saw a man and woman come into the store, go to where the liquor is kept, and then the man came to the register and only purchased some candy. The manager reviewed the store’s video with Sgt. Clark and the woman was seen taking a bottle of rum and concealing it in her bag. Sgt. Clark located the woman, recovered the stolen liquor, and issued her a summons for the theft.
– Sgt. Clark stopped a small pickup in Easton due to the vehicle being overloaded with firewood. The driver was a 31-year-old male resident of Easton. The man had a suspended driver’s license and did not have proof of insurance for the truck. Sgt. Clark issued the man a traffic summons for both violations and warned him for overloading the truck. The pickup was removed from the roadway.
– Cpl. Quint stopped a vehicle for criminal speeding in Westfield. The driver, a 30-year-old male from Chapman, stated he was returning from out-of-state training and was anxious to get home to his family. The man was driving 90 mph in a 55-mph zone. The man was issued a criminal summons for the violation.
Friday, August 19
– Tr. Curtin met with, and spoke with children at a local daycare in Presque Isle. The young children certainly appeared to enjoy their morning with Tr. Curtin.
Saturday, August 20
– Competitor ME sponsored a “Race for Responders” in Presque Isle. The race was open to children and adults and was to honor Police, Fire, and EMS. Tr. Casavant greeted competitors at the finish line and his wife Jess, daughter Charli and son Cruze (in their custom made race shirts) ran in the race representing Troop F.
– Sgt. Clark responded to a crash on Interstate 95 in Oakfield. A 54-year-old Presque Isle woman was returning from Portland where she had dropped her son off at a rehabilitation center. The woman was intoxicated and left the roadway with her vehicle crashing into some trees. Sgt. Clark arrested the woman and took her to the Aroostook County Jail.
