ROGER STEPHEN CASEY LINNEUS – Roger Stephen Casey, 85, went to be with his Lord Wednesday May 24, 2017, while at his home. He was born February 29, 1932, in Merrill, the son of Stephen and Ruth (Hardy) Casey.
Roger graduated from Oakfield High School and joined the United States Marine Corp. He served from 1950 until 1953, fighting in the Korean War. While serving in Korea, Roger received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal and a Citation of Heroic Achievement for “Displayed Exceptional Courage, Initiative and Professional Skill In The Performance Of His Duties.” Upon his discharge from the military, Roger came home and worked for the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad for thirty seven years, retiring in 1991. After retirement he drove cars for York Ford. Roger attended the Houlton Wesleyan Church.
He is survived by his wife Freda (Floyd) Byron Casey of Linneus, his son Mark Casey and his wife Margaret, a daughter Teresa Fitzpatrick and her husband Greg all of Houlton, a stepson Zane Byron and his wife Roxanne of Milford, grandchildren, Amber, Heather, Joey, Sara, Nathan and Jarrett, step-grandchildren, Geoffrey and Jessica, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There are also five special children who gave Roger much joy, Colby, Parker, Abby, Tyler and Riley Scott. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Marie, a brother George, sisters Evelyn, Pauline and Ada. Roger’s family would like to thank Dr. Abouleish and Hospice Of Aroostook for all of their care and support.
Friends called 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017, at the Houlton Wesleyan Church where a service was conducted 3 p.m. with the Revs. Wayne Robertson and Mel Norton officiating. Interment with military honors took place at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. The family invited relatives and friends to a time of refreshment at the church following the committal service at the cemetery.
