NANCY J. BEALS, HOULTON – Nancy J. Beals, 81, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at a Houlton long term care facility. She was born September 25, 1935, in Houlton, the daughter of Harry and Raida (Foster) Tyrrell.
Nancy grew up in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School. She married Merton Beals and together they would raise their four children. Nancy was a hard worker and along with her husband Merton, owned Broadway Pizza, Beals Family Restaurant, and for many years Beals Realty. She also worked also worked at Gardiner Health Care Facility as a CNA and later as the activities coordinator.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting, cooking, and most of all her grandchildren. She loved her family and treasured the time spent together with them. She will be remembered as loving, kind, as well as very traditional.
She is survived by her four children: Michael Beals and his wife Shelley of Houlton, Rachel Green and her husband Gary of Texas, Brian Beals and his wife Lisa of New Limerick, David and his significant other Billie Jo Hagan of Littleton, grandchildren: Jennifer, Michael, Shawn, Heather C., Kimberly, Jessie, Holly, Jamie, Josh, Heather B., Nicole, Tara, Laura, as well as several great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her husband Merton Beals, a sister Joanne (Tyrrell) Cox and brother-in-law Earl Cox.
Friends called 10 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at the First Baptist Church on Court Street, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment followed the service at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. The family invited relatives and friends to a time of refreshment immediately following the interment.
