HOULTON, Maine — Houlton High School Assistant Principal Dan Hodgins announced Wednesday, March 7, that senior Kolleen Bouchard has been selected to receive the 2018 Maine Principal’s Association Award.

The accolade, sponsored by the MPA, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, outstanding school citizenship, and leadership.

“Kolleen is very deserving of this award, as she has made academics and citizenship a priority during her time at Houlton High School,” stated assistant principal Hodgins. “Kolleen has also exemplified a high level of leadership in addition to being active in a variety of activities at school and around the community.”

Bouchard is a well rounded student who excels in academics and athletics at Houlton High School. She is the National Honor Society president, serves as a Houlton High School mentor, and is a member of the Shires varsity basketball and soccer teams, for which she has won multiple awards and accolades.

She was also the recipient of the Excellence in Chemistry Award and the University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award; is a four-time Owen Osbourne Tournament MVP and earned the Butch Shaw Award for soccer.

Bouchard is actively involved in her community and volunteers with the Elk’s Annual Hoop Shoot competition as well as with youth soccer and basketball camps and Special Olympics.

Bouchard will join other award winners and their principals at an honors luncheon to be held at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on April 7. The event will recognize these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of 10 scholarships of $1,000 each.

The Maine Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.

She is the daughter of Marty and Karen Bouchard of Houlton.
