Camera takes kids to class in Cleveland

MARS HILL, Maine — A new interactive camera system recently took students at Mars Hill’s Fort Street School on a field trip of sorts with a lesson from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Using the school’s Promethean Interactive Camera System, fifth-grade students in Mrs. Kristen Lagasse’s science class experienced a virtual field trip entitled “Cells: A Really Close Look at How Life Works,” broadcast live from the museum.

During the session, students interacted with Science Officer Lee by asking and answering questions about different cells in the human body. Colorful slides, pictures videos, and models enhanced the one-hour lesson, and students practiced what they learned by drawing a cell.

Lagasse said she looks forward to many more such virtual experiences with her class.
