MAINE — In celebration of Giving Tuesday on Nov. 27, a national wireless carrier announced the return of a program investing in youth who are making an impact on their communities.
The Future of Good, led by U.S. Cellular, will recognize 16 young humanitarians under the age of 16 and reward them with $10,000 toward their causes.
In 2017, the company recognized Maine teen Tommy Hosmer of Bangor with $10,000 to support his Team Mimi. Hosmer started Team Mimi to benefit efforts to battle ovarian cancer. In 2016, Jason Albaum, Colby Ellis and Juli Ennis received $10,000 for Project Playback in Kennebunk, a music therapy program bringing personalized playlists and interaction to nursing home residents.
This year, now through Jan. 8, 2019, adults in Maine may visit TheFutureofGood.com to nominate youth ages 6-15 who are making an impact in their communities.
The winners will be announced in February 2019, and their stories will be featured on TheFutureofGood.com.
“In years past we’ve seen extraordinary examples of giving back from young humanitarians,” said Matt Kasper, director of sales at U.S. Cellular in New England, “and this year we look forward to featuring stories of how young humanitarians are using wireless technology to enhance their efforts and to show first-hand how youth are connecting to the good in all of us.”
To enter, nominators should visit TheFutureofGood.com and provide a brief essay that describes the nominee’s cause, how it is helping to make his/her community a better place, and how the nominee uses wireless connectivity or technology to further his/her cause. Nominees must not turn 16 before Feb. 28, 2019.
