NEW SWEDEN, Maine — Francis Goodness, 62, of New Sweden did not see an oncoming vehicle as he pulled out of the Northstar Variety parking lot at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, resulting in a crash that disabled both vehicles, but left the drivers uninjured, according to a press release from Aroostook County Sheriff Shawn Gillen.
Deputy Sgt. Erica Pelletier investigated and determined that Goodness was unable to see the oncoming vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 17-year-old male, whose name was not released because of his age.
The damage disabled both vehicles which crews towed from the scene. Police reported that both drivers, who were the sole occupants of each vehicle, were wearing their seat belts and not injured.
