Long-time mill employee retires

HOULTON, Maine — Employees at the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation mill here noted the retirement of 36-year employee Richard Benn with a cake and well wishes.

Benn joined the LP Houlton engineered wood products mill in 1982, around the time it began producing oriented strand board. He retired on Jan. 4, 2019.

He spent more than 30 years of his career in the mill’s shipping department and saw the mill transform into an innovative laminated strand lumber (LSL) mill.

“We are both happy and sad today, Richard,” Production Superintendent Danny Williams, his supervisor, said at Benn’s retirement party.

“As you retire and end your career with LP, we are happy that you will have time to spend with you family and friends, but your LP family will miss working with you,” Williams said.
