LIMESTONE, Maine — The Loring Job Corps Center recently named Brady Lessard as the Star Student of the Quarter.
Lessard joined team Loring in September 2018, and quickly found his niche in the culinary trades.Originally from Leeds, he came to Loring, as many other young adults do, searching for better opportunities both professionally and personally.
Lessard said he chose Job Corps as the best means to his future success and made the commitment to learn a valuable trade, employability skills and personal growth.
LJC staff said since his enrollment, Lessard continues to hold perfect attendance and conduct, while also serving as a role model for his peers. He can be found on a daily basis assisting his peers in the classrooms and dorms, and they often seek him out for his ability to listen and give calm advice.
He has also stepped into leadership roles at the center.
After completing his studies at Loring, Lessard plans to continue training with Job Corps by attending an advanced culinary training program.
“Team Loring is very proud of Brady and we look forward to his continued success in and after Job Corps,” said Roger Felix, business and community liaison and the center’s Honor Guard sergeant major.
During the awards presentation, Lessard thanked his peers and asked them to help spread the word about Job Corps to their friends back home.
“Let them know if they commit themselves to a positive change, anything is possible,” he said.
