CARIBOU, Maine — Cold, blustery conditions greeted track athletes from 10 schools May 11 at Caribou High School in one of the larger track and field meets of the year.
The Vikings finished first in the girls team standings with 156 points, followed by 2, Bangor, 154; 3, Hampden Academy, 116.50; 4, Presque Isle, 52; 5, Maine School of Science and Mathematics, 39; 6, Fort Kent, 24; 7, Fort Fairfield, 20.50; 8, Houlton, 16; and 9, Greater Houlton Christian, 6.
Bangor was the top squad for the boys with 190 points. Other team scores were: 2, Hampden Academy, 122; 3, Caribou, 121; 4, Presque Isle, 93; 5, MSSM, 21; 6, Houlton, 13; and 7, Washburn, 10.
County track athletes will have little time to rest as the Aroostook County League Championship is slated for Thursday, May 16, at Presque Isle Middle School.
The first-place finishers in each category are as follows:
Girls 4×800 relay — MSSM (Jasmine Deal, Milica Samardzic, Madison McCarthy and Dolcie Tanguay), 11 minutes, 58.85 seconds.
