Coca-Cola — The supply of Coca-Cola in Aroostook County definitely will be affected by further curtailment of the supply of sugar after July 1 because the manufacturer of that popular drink will not compromise with the use of substitutes.
House relocated — Beecher Brooker of Limestone is moving the house recently purchased from Archie Thompson to his lot on the Ocean Road.
50 Years Ago – June 24, 1970
Scholars fund aids 12 students — Caribou Dollars for Scholars announces the completion of its third campaign, pointing to another 25 percent increase in contributions in 1970. The group citied the efforts of students and directors, and the generosity of organizations and businesses as responsible for the increase.
Limestone scholarship efforts exceed $6,000 — Scholarships amounting to $6,075 have been awarded to graduating seniors at Limestone, all of them coming through the efforts of local organizations and individuals.
25 Years Ago – June 21, 1995
Volunteers make donations — A $100 donation was made to the Aroostook Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross by volunteers of the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department. The check was presented to Larry Harrison branch manager by Capt. Steve Sperry of the local fire department. Harrison said the funds will be donated as a memorial of the Oklahoma City disaster victims and disasters locally.
Borderview goes to the drive-in movie — Drive-in movies may be a thing of the past, but for residents at Boderview Manor in Van Buren, it is back. The popular entertainment from the 50s and 60s was brought back recently. Using a 15-by-20-foot screen and the parking lot of the home, more than 50 residents enjoyed the movie “Little Rascals” from parked cars.
