To the editor:
I greatly appreciated the letters last week from Chris Martin and Judy Dinsmore. How wonderful to view the “other side” for a “fair and balanced” story.
Yes, let’s forget the mud slinging and get back to the actual business of the city. We have had more than enough of that garbage in the state and federal election. I am very hopeful that our city will be better than that and will continue to invite citizens to leadership roles who have intense desire to actually provide a service to our community, to provide responsible financial decisions and to bring our city’s budget back to a reasonable tax base.
Once the spending spree is over and the tax base is at a livable amount, we will certainly have the time for researching funding opportunities to improve the Fire and Police Departments renovations, do improvements for our Public Works, Public Library and support the heritage of Caribou via the Nylander Museum and the Caribou Historical Society.
We had a great little town so let’s not lose that just because we now think of ourselves as a “city.” Our first step must be to vote wisely.
