FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine – Police are seeking information about an allegedly stolen car involved in a crash in Fort Fairfield.
At approximately 4 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on West Limestone Road. They determined that the 2018 Honda CRV went off the roadway, struck a tree and then stopped in a nearby field, Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew Cummings said.
The impact of the crash damaged the front-end of the car extensively and caused the airbags to deploy, he said.
From foot tracks at the crash scene, police concluded that the driver likely walked to the road and possibly received a ride in another vehicle.
During their investigation, police discovered that the same Honda CRV had allegedly been stolen from the Northern Light Health clinic on North St. in Presque Isle around noon Thursday, Cummings said.
Police are urging anyone with information on the crash or alleged theft to call Fort Fairfield Police Department at 472-3808 or Aroostook County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-638-8477. People can also text tips to (207) 538-8477.
