LITTLETON, Maine — A Littleton crash closed Route 1 for about an hour on Monday morning after a Corinna man lost control of his vehicle, crashed into the woods and hit a utility pole, according to the Maine State Police.
About 428 Littleton households were out of power for several hours while Versant Power replaced the utility pole and restored service.
Dominick Webber, 20, who was traveling toward Houlton on Route 1, skidded off the right side of the road, hitting the pole before coming to rest in a heavily wooded area, police said.
Witnesses told police that two men were seen walking away from the crash but only Webber was there when Southern Aroostook Ambulance arrived, police said. Webber was treated and taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police searched for the passenger, who was later heard calling for help from the woods. State troopers found the passenger, who was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police said that driving over the speed limit and alcohol contributed to the crash.
The Aroostook County Sheriff, Littleton Fire and Southern Aroostook Ambulance assisted on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
