Last week the Mapleton Daze Committee’s 5th Annual Mapleton Daze On-line Silent Auction was incorrectly reported as ending last Wednesday.  The actual ending of the auction is today and will conclude today at 6 p.m.  Readers still have time to view auction items on the Mapleton Daze Event Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/130820123359452 and following the “Discussion” tab on the event page to see over 350 items for sale. Even though the auction has been underway for the last two days, bids can be made today right up to 5:59 pm. No late bids will be accepted after this time.

This auction is a great opportunity to start some holiday shopping by bidding on some of the fine items being offered by the Mapleton Daze Committee through this auction. The items were given as donations for Mapleton Daze 2024. The Mapleton Daze Online Auction has always been a very fun event for bidders and participants. The best part is the many great deals that bidders find in the auction. This event is their biggest fundraiser for the year – it allows them to provide events during the week of Mapleton Daze, free of charge, for everyone to attend. A little “sneak peak” of some events that they will have for Mapleton Daze 2024 are: Axe Women of Maine and Extreme Pogo Sticking will be joining them for very fun and entertaining programs, they will have the Monster Truck back to give free rides, our annual Fireworks, and so much more is being planned!

Items bought must be picked up locally at the West Chapman Advent Christian Church on Friday Night, November 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Because this is a fundraiser, winning items cannot be mailed, thus bidders living outside of the central Aroostook area may want to think twice about bidding for auction items but don’t think too long as the auction ends this evening.

The Mapleton Daze inaugural hunter’s breakfast was held on Saturday November 4 and the turnout for the breakfast was beyond expectations. Among the diners were local royalty wearing hunter orange. Shown here in this photo are (left to right) Little Miss Potato Blossom Queen Evelynn Wardwell, her father Dave Wardwell, mother Paige Wardwell and Preteen Miss Mapleton Charlotte Wardwell. They enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast laid before all who came to support Mapleton Daze 2024.

Mapleton Daze hunters breakfast a success

The return of a hunter’s breakfast to Mapleton was a terrific success.  The Mapleton Daze Committee hosted the breakfast and was surprised by the large turnout. The breakfast was scheduled to run from 5 to 9 a.m., however additional eggs had to be purchased after the first 20 dozen eggs were cooked and sold before 7 a.m. The Mapleton Daze Committee thanks all who came out to the breakfast and enjoyed the terrific meal served by the committee and their volunteers. Funds raised from the breakfast will be used to support the many activities and events that will make up Mapleton Daze 2024.

The State Road Advent Christian Church held the annual harvest dinner. There was a large crowd attending and enjoying the bountiful harvest dinner. The church’s tradition has been to collect donations for the dinner and these donations have been used to meet worthy needs. This year the dinner donations will be used to help in the construction of the new Camp Nomacca Tabernacle. The church thanks all who attended and made donations for the camp.

State Road Advent Christian Church harvest dinner for Camp Nomacca Tabernacle

Saturday, November 4 the State Road Advent Christian Church held its annual harvest supper. A bountiful harvest meal was served on a long serving table that stretched across the fellowship hall of the church with two long dessert tables. As the tables filled with diners in the hall, the crowd of diners continued to arrive and line around the wall before reaching the serving line. A delicious Thanksgiving meal cooked up with the help of many volunteer hands was laid on the tables and enjoyed by all.

Each year the donations for the dinner are donated to various community needs.  This year’s contributions will go to the construction of the new tabernacle at Camp Nomacca. The church values the Camp NomCCA Tabernacle as it is a place where the hearts of young and old have gathered to draw nearer to the presence of God through worship, friends and fellowship, and preaching the Word. The church is committed to helping restore this treasure of a place by fundraising, volunteer work and prayer.  The church looks forward to enjoying Camp Nomacca and the new Tabernacle for decades to come!

The towns of Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman held the off-year elections on a set of state referendum questions and a school board election. In this photo, the Castle Hill poll workers and ballot counters undertake the determination of the election results.

The mid-term election held on November 6 ran smoothly in Mapleton and Castle Hill. The voting place for both towns was at the Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman Fire Station.
