50 Years Ago — Nov. 7, 1973

  New facility – “Only two years in business and already we have to expand,” was the comment of Leo Morin recently. Morin, owner of Morin’s Custom Cabinets in Madawaska, has announced plans for expansion of their facilities. “This expansion,” said Morin, “would mean an additional four or five more employees, all of them local.” Cited by Morin as the primary reason for new construction is the taking on of a new line of windows next spring.

25 Years Ago — Nov. 11, 1998

Homeless – The Youth Ministry of the Parish of St. Bruno-St. Remi in Van Buren participated in a Homeless Awareness night on Oct. 25-25, 1998. The youth slept in cardboard boxes under a makeshift tent on the parish lawn. The high point of the evening was a presentation by an area college student who had experienced homelessness as a teenager. All who heard the story of this speaker gained a new appreciation of what is often taken for granted: a home, clean clothes, showers, regular meals, living with love and respect and living without fear.

10 Years Ago — Nov. 13, 2013

 LePage welcomes Ameridial to Fort Kent — Gov. Paul LePage was among those attending the grand opening of the Ameridial call center in Fort Kent on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. In October, the North Carolina-based teleservices company, which has clients in the financial, health care, education and business sectors, renovated and reopened the Pleasant Street facility, most recently occupied by Synergy Solutions.
