Appreciates kindness

To the editor:

I was having a down day this past Friday.  Life drudges on and things need to be done, so I moped into the Fort Fairfield IGA.  The folks in there have always been decent and accommodating.  I kept my head down and attempted to focus on the sales of the week, just getting the shopping done.

All of a sudden one of the employees met my eyes while I struggled to make decisions about my shopping list.  “Do you want a gift card?” she asked. She handed me an envelope.

What a blessing. This employee didn’t know I was having a hard time, but because of her kindness she showed me yet another reason to be thankful this time of year.

I wanted to mention this moment because at this time of year, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s, it is hard emotionally and stressful. But remember, it may not be the price of the gift that you give.  A person’s kindness and attention may positively affect someone’s life more than any gift.

I wanted kind and generous people who may not know that their actions were even appreciated to know that you are touching lives.  Thank you and merry Christmas.
