MOUNT DESERT ISLAND, Maine — Senior Tori Koch picked up Presque Isle’s lone first-place finish at the Penobscot Valley Conference Large School Championships, held Saturday.
Koch claimed the title in the 400-meter dash, winning in 1 minute and .81 seconds. She placed in two other individual events, taking third in the long jump with a mark of 15 feet, 8.25 inches and fifth in the triple jump at 32 feet, 8.25 inches. She served as the fourth leg on the fourth-place 4×400-meter relay team, with Eleanor St. Peter, Clara Kohlbacher and Elizabeth Moreau also part of the foursome that recorded a time of 4:30.64.
Her Wildcats scored 36 points in the meet, good for seventh place overall. Bangor took the team title with 119.5, followed by MDI with 107 and Brewer with 98.
Also for PI, Madelyn Wing was second in the javelin with a throw of 93 feet, 6 inches; Kamryn Gilmour was fourth in the 1,600-meter racewalk in 9:26.99 and Madison Jandreau was fifth in the 3,200-meter run in 13:05.84.
The Wildcat boys tallied 24 points to take eighth out of 10 teams. MDI was the winner with 168, with Hampden (106) edging Brewer (105) for second place.
PI’s Owen McQuarrie was second in the racewalk in 9:27.59 and teammate Alec Smith was fourth in 10:29.05.
Trace Cyr of the Wildcats took fifth in the 400-meter dash in 53.48 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.55 seconds. Kyler Caron of PI came in fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 44.86 seconds. Both Cyr and Caron were legs on the 4×400-meter relay team that finished third in 3:45.44. They were joined by Chan Villatora and Jason Dumais.
