POMPANO BEACH, FLA. — Dorothy Michaud Cassidy, 74, of Pompano Beach, Florida, died peacefully Friday, July 7, 2017, after a brave three year battle with cancer. She was born January 16, 1943, in Eagle Lake, Maine to the late Oniel and Bernice (Saucier) Michaud.
She is survived by her two children, Steven (Robin) Suhlman of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Robyn Suhlman of Pompano Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Joshua Gavin, Nicholas Suhlman and Alexandra Suhlman; brothers, Andrew (Viola) Michaud and Terry (Phyllis) Michaud; sisters, Judy Cote and Bernice (Harold) Christianson; and a very special niece, Kelli (Bartley) Hainz.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Ann Suhlman, her husband of nineteen years, Dr. Donald W. Cassidy Sr.; and Rene’ Gagnon, her husband of 18 years, which they owned and operated together County Furniture and Mattress Outlet.
Dorothy was a long time resident of Northern Maine and loved to cook, travel, crochet, oil paint, golf, flower garden and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her time and friendships made volunteering for the Ft. Fairfield Beautification Committee, helping women at the Battered Women’s Shelter both located in Maine, and nurturing children and young mothers at St. Joseph’s Infant and Maternity Shelter in Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be scheduled in August at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Pompano Beach.
